How I got Cisco VPN Client Work on Windows 8

Lately, I had problems connecting to our VPN gateway using my Windows 8 Box. After googling and pulling some of my hair, I have found the answer.

This is the error when I tried connecting to VPN.

Here are the steps:
1. Press Win + R and type regedit to open the Registry.
2. Go through the following registry key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CVirtA
3. Change the value data from something like “@oem8.inf,%CVirtA_Desc%;Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows” to “Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows”. I am using 64bit by the way.
cisco2
4. Close the editor and VPN should be working fine now.
